Indian President Droupadi Murmu’s Historic State Visit to Fiji

The President of India, Droupadi Murmu, arrived in Fiji yesterday for a two-day State visit. She was welcomed by Viliame Gavoka, the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation.

President Murmu landed at Nausori International Airport at 7:45 AM, where she was greeted with a guard of honour by the Fiji Military Forces. At 9 AM, a traditional welcome ceremony will take place at the Grand Pacific Hotel, after which she will meet with President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere at the State House.

At 11 AM, President Murmu is scheduled to address Parliament and will follow this meeting with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka at 12:30 PM. Subsequently, a lunch hosted by the Prime Minister will be held in her honour.

Later in the day, she will connect with the Indian diaspora at the Grand Pacific Hotel at 3 PM, before attending a wreath-laying ceremony at the National War Memorial Site at 4 PM.

Following this, President Murmu will visit Mahatma Gandhi Memorial High School to pay tribute to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and will conclude her day with a reception at the State House in the evening.

She is set to depart Nausori at 7:30 PM for Nadi and will visit the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple at 9 AM on Wednesday morning before leaving the country.
