India Stands Ready to Aid Fiji in Drug War

India is ready to offer its support to Fiji in combatting drug-related issues. Palaniswamy Karthigeyan, the High Commissioner to Fiji, stated that assistance would be provided if requested by the Fijian government.

Karthigeyan emphasized the importance of collaboration, noting, “We would be happy to consider working with our Fijian friends provided there is a request coming in that way.” He highlighted that India’s development partnership is based on the needs and priorities set by its partner nations.

The High Commissioner pointed out that the drug crisis represents a significant social and security challenge for Fiji. He affirmed, “If there is a request from the Fijian Government in this particular area, which I recognize as a major social threat, also a security threat to the nation and its future, we would certainly be very happy to consider working in this area.”
