Tevita Ikanivere, captain of the Fiji Water Flying Fijians and a former star from Queen Victoria School (QVS), is optimistic that his alma mater will secure victory in the 2024 Vodafone Super Deans competition.
With the Pacific Nations Cup campaign approaching, which begins on August 23 against Manu Samoa at HFC Stadium, Ikanivere expressed his unwavering confidence in QVS’s chances. “I know QVS will win the Deans,” he stated enthusiastically.
In addition to supporting QVS, Ikanivere, who co-captains the Fijian Drua, took the opportunity to encourage all teams participating in the competition. He urged them to prepare thoroughly and put forth their best efforts during the matches. “For the rest of the teams, hope you prepare well and come and perform well on the field,” he said. Ikanivere also called on fans to come out and show their support for the young athletes. “To all the fans, come out in numbers and support our secondary school boys and girls,” he added.
He concluded his remarks with a confident prediction, smiling as he affirmed, “QVS will win.” Notably, QVS holds the title of the defending champion of the Deans Trophy.
The school is scheduled to compete against Ratu Navula College in a highly anticipated second semi-final tomorrow at 5 p.m.
