The Fiji portfolio of IHG Hotels & Resorts, managed by the Fiji National Provident Fund (FNPF), shone at the 2025 ANZ Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards (FETA), clinching multiple Gold awards. The awards ceremony took place on Saturday, 28 February 2026, at the Crowne Plaza Fiji Nadi Bay Resort & Spa, recognizing outstanding contributions across the tourism sector.

This year’s program saw strong participation, with 249 entries submitted and 65 finalists selected, highlighting the competitive spirit within the industry. The FNPF-owned portfolio, which includes the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel Suva, and Holiday Inn Suva, received the Gold Award for Training and Development, showcasing its commitment to enhancing staff capabilities and professional growth.

In addition, the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa was honored as the Conference and Incentive (C&I) Operator of the Year. Akshay Chand, the Portfolio Director of Information Technology, was recognized as a Rising Star, emphasizing the development of emerging leadership within the organization.

The InterContinental Fiji also achieved Silver in the Community CSR category and Bronze for Spa InterContinental as Spa Operator of the Year. These accolades reflect the property’s dedication to community involvement and delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Lachlan Walker, Regional General Manager – Fiji and Pacific for IHG Hotels & Resorts, remarked that these awards were a testament to the hard work of teams across the properties and the robust operational standards that underpin the business. He acknowledged the support from the Fiji National Provident Fund, which has allowed for continued investment and governance across the portfolio.

Chand expressed gratitude for the Rising Star recognition, crediting his colleagues and leadership for their support. He emphasized that the award motivates him to continue leveraging technology to improve both guest satisfaction and organizational performance.

These achievements illustrate the group’s commitment to workforce development, service excellence, and bolstering Fiji’s tourism industry. The portfolio looks forward to expanding training programs and career opportunities in 2026, reinforcing collaboration with industry stakeholders and local communities.
