The IHG Fiji Hotels portfolio, which comprises the InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva, successfully raised $15,000 during its ‘Movember’ campaign in November. The funds will be allocated to Lifeline Fiji, an organization dedicated to suicide prevention and mental health advocacy, which plays an essential role in the community.

Highlights of the campaign included a variety of engaging activities aimed at fostering discussions surrounding men’s health. Initiatives like ‘Fake Moustaches’ and the ‘Reverse Movember Beard-to-Moustache Challenge’ encouraged hotel staff to grow and showcase their facial hair in a fun yet meaningful way, helping to reduce stigma associated with mental health.

Guests were also invited to participate through themed offerings, with activities such as unique cocktails, spa treatments, dessert sales, and ‘Cup of Kindness’ coffee sales, allowing them to contribute to the important cause while enjoying their stay.

Lachlan Walker, regional general manager for IHG Hotels & Resorts Fiji and the Pacific, emphasized the significance of creating a supportive work environment where employees feel comfortable discussing their wellbeing. He expressed gratitude to the hotel teams for their heartfelt participation, reflecting the essence of a caring workplace.

The commitment to mental health awareness is further highlighted by IHG’s recent achievement of Global Great Place to Work® Accreditation for 2025. The ongoing partnership with Lifeline Fiji enriched the campaign by providing access to essential resources like a 24-hour crisis helpline and community-based resilience programs, ensuring that both staff and guests had the support they needed for mental wellbeing.

This initiative not only raised funds but also promoted vital conversations about mental health that resonate deeply in the Fijian community, showcasing the positive impact of collaboration and awareness efforts.
