The IHG Fiji Hotels group, which includes InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva, has successfully raised FJ$15,000 through its annual Movember campaign. This substantial amount will be donated to Lifeline Fiji, supporting crucial suicide prevention and mental health services across the nation.

This year’s month-long initiative fostered a sense of community, engaging both staff and guests in various fun and awareness-driven activities aimed at promoting open discussions about men’s health and wellbeing. Among the creative activities were the “Fake Moustaches” and the “Reverse Movember Beard-to-Moustache Challenge,” which used humor to encourage conversations and tackle the stigma surrounding mental health issues.

Guests participated by enjoying themed cocktails, special spa treatments, unique desserts, and the “Cup of Kindness” coffee initiative, all designed not only to raise funds but also to highlight the importance of men’s health.

Lifeline Fiji played a pivotal role in enhancing the educational component of the campaign, providing access to its 24-hour crisis line, counseling services, and resilience programs, ensuring participants received valuable guidance on mental wellbeing and the importance of seeking help.

Lachlan Walker, the Regional General Manager for Fiji and the Pacific at IHG Hotels & Resorts, commended the staff for their dedication, mentioning that the campaign aligns with the organization’s emphasis on psychological safety and emotional support within the workplace. He noted that the recent Global Great Place to Work® Accreditation for 2025 further emphasizes this commitment.

Jeremaia Merekula, Director at Lifeline Fiji, expressed gratitude to the hotels for their continuous support, highlighting that initiatives like Movember facilitate early intervention and help reduce stigma for individuals facing distress.

The FJ$15,000 raised will significantly contribute to Lifeline Fiji’s crisis response, counseling, and community outreach programs, made possible by the generosity of hotel guests and the hard work of hotel staff. This partnership represents a proactive step towards promoting mental health awareness and providing valuable resources for those in need.
