InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva (IHG) recently hosted a festive Christmas cocktail for clients and stakeholders at the Grand Pacific Hotel. General manager Lachlan Walker expressed that the event served as an opportunity for the group to reflect on a demanding yet fulfilling year.
Walker took a moment to appreciate the support from shareholders, business partners, and customers, emphasizing the successful year across their three FNPF-owned hotels in Fiji. He highlighted that their commitment to excellence extends beyond hospitality, focusing on benefiting the surrounding communities and the environment.
This year, IHG has made strides in environmental efforts, as evidenced by their ‘Litter for a Latte’ beach clean-up initiatives, which have successfully removed over 850 kilograms of waste from Natadola beach, with a goal to reach one tonne by the year’s end. Their hotels have also spearheaded the rubbish awareness campaign, “If you can’t bin it, bag it.”
Furthermore, IHG has raised approximately $70,000 through various initiatives, including donations from their Cup of Kindness Coffee program and other events, which have funded crucial projects in education, healthcare, and sustainability. Their Community Care Fund has invested over $130,000 into local initiatives, significantly impacting the Natadola and Suva communities.
In September, during their global Giving for Good month, IHG provided over 1,600 meals to the homeless in Suva and Nadi, collaborating with local organizations such as Sacred Heart Kitchen and the St Vincent De Paul Society.
This event not only celebrated the successes of the year but also highlighted IHG’s unwavering commitment to social responsibility and community engagement. The efforts made by the group demonstrate a positive influence on the environment and local communities, showcasing how businesses can contribute meaningfully beyond their core operations.
