InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva recently hosted their clients and stakeholders for a festive Christmas cocktail at the Grand Pacific Hotel. The gathering took place last Thursday and served as an opportunity for the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to reflect on the year’s achievements.
Lachlan Walker, the general manager of IHG Portfolio, emphasized the importance of the event as a moment to express gratitude towards shareholders, business partners, and guests for their support throughout the year. He noted, “It’s been a busy and rewarding year across our three FNPF-owned IHG Hotels in Fiji.”
Walker highlighted that while excellence in hospitality remains central to their mission, IHG is equally dedicated to making a positive impact in the communities they serve. This year, their environmental initiatives were exemplified through the successful ‘Litter for a Latte’ beach clean-up program, which has already removed over 850 kilograms of waste from Natadola beach. They aim to collect a total of one tonne by the end of the year, showcasing their commitment to environmental stewardship.
Furthermore, IHG has galvanized support for local communities through various fundraising initiatives, accumulating nearly $70,000 to support crucial educational, healthcare, and sustainability projects. Their Community Care Fund has invested over $130,000 in local initiatives, bringing tangible benefits to residents in Natadola and Suva.
Walker also shared details about IHG’s global initiative, ‘Giving for Good Month’ in September, which resulted in the delivery of over 1,600 meals to the homeless populations in Suva and Nadi. This effort was made possible through partnerships with local organizations such as Sacred Heart Kitchen and St. Vincent De Paul.
The Christmas cocktail evening not only served as a festive celebration but also reinforced IHG’s commitment to community well-being and environmental responsibility, positioning them as a leader in sustainable hospitality in Fiji.
