The InterContinental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa, Grand Pacific Hotel, and Holiday Inn Suva, all part of IHG, recently held a festive Christmas cocktail reception for clients and stakeholders at the Grand Pacific Hotel. The event, which occurred last Thursday, served as an opportunity for the team to celebrate the year’s achievements and express gratitude to their partners, shareholders, and customers.
Lachlan Walker, the general manager of the IHG portfolio, emphasized that the gathering was not only a celebration of a successful year across their three hotels but also reflected their commitment to excellence and community impact. “We take pride in making a difference beyond hospitality,” Walker stated, highlighting their ongoing environmental initiatives and community support programs.
In 2023, IHG advanced its efforts to enhance the local environment, notably through its ‘Litter for a Latte’ campaign, which has seen the collection of over 850 kilograms of waste from Natadola beach, with a goal of reaching one tonne by year-end. The campaign has been complemented by the ‘If you can’t bin it, bag it’ awareness initiative aimed at promoting responsible waste disposal.
In addition to environmental efforts, IHG has raised nearly $70,000 through various fundraising activities, including coffee donations and cocktail events, benefiting crucial projects related to education, healthcare, and sustainability in the community. The Community Care Fund has allocated over $130,000 to support local initiatives in Natadola and Suva, providing vital assistance to residents.
Furthermore, as part of IHG’s global Giving for Good initiative in September, the hotels collaborated with local organizations to deliver more than 1,600 meals to homeless individuals in Suva and Nadi. These efforts were made in partnership with groups like the Sacred Heart Kitchen and St. Vincent De Paul, showcasing IHG’s commitment to community service.
