Igniting Minds: Fiji TV Launches Major National Quiz Competition

Selina Kuruleca, the Permanent Secretary for Education, announced that the IQ Active competition aims to boost academic involvement and promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills among students. During the launch of the largest national secondary school general knowledge quiz competition this morning, she emphasized the significance of enhancing academic engagement.

This year, fifty secondary schools, including five maritime institutions, are participating in the 2024 competition, featuring over 200 students from various divisions.

Kuruleca praised Fiji TV for reinstating the competition and highlighted the importance of teamwork and effective communication among the participants.

She stated, “This competition should encourage and nurture critical thinking. Instead of solely approaching a problem in one way, participants are challenged to think critically and creatively, enhancing their problem-solving skills and intellectual capabilities. It’s important to study as usual and then engage in creative and critical thought to find the best possible solutions.”

Felix Chaudhary, Acting CEO of Fiji Television, reiterated the company’s commitment to supporting Fiji’s education sector. He remarked, “Fiji TV is dedicated to fostering literacy and numeracy, and we are eager to continue this effort in the future.”

The 2024 IQ Active competition is set to premiere on October 7th on Fiji One.
