Sarvesh Suri has been appointed as the Regional Vice President for Asia and the Pacific at the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a key member of the World Bank Group. Based in Singapore, Suri brings with him 25 years of extensive experience in global investment and development, with a strong background in fostering public-private partnerships.

In his new role, Suri will lead all investment and advisory operations across the region, focusing on mobilizing the private sector to tackle complex development challenges and create job opportunities. His efforts will extend from India to the Pacific, where he will oversee a dedicated team working on designing private sector solutions in various sectors, including financial services, manufacturing, agribusiness, and infrastructure.

To assist him, the IFC has appointed two new Division Directors: Keiko Miwa in Jakarta, who will manage operations in South West Asia and the Pacific Islands, and Arnaud Dupoizat, who will take the lead in East Asia starting February 1, 2026, based in Hong Kong.

Before assuming this new position, Suri served as the IFC’s Regional Industry Director for Infrastructure and Natural Resources, working from Johannesburg, South Africa. Throughout his 15 years at the IFC, he has held various leadership roles, including as Senior Regional Manager overseeing operations in Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Papua New Guinea.

Addressing the challenges in the region, Suri emphasized the shared aspiration of people across Asia and the Pacific for dignified employment, stating, “What unites people across the region is that they all want the dignity of a job—livelihoods to support themselves and their families.” He aims to leverage the IFC’s toolkit of private sector solutions to generate jobs by mobilizing private capital and implementing innovative financing strategies. This includes strengthening local capital markets, making impactful equity investments, and focusing on micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises as crucial drivers for employment generation.

An Indian national, Suri holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Delhi University. His extensive qualifications and experience position him to make a significant impact on the economic landscapes of Asia and the Pacific.
