The Hurricanes are facing a setback as All Blacks player Ruben Love has been ruled out for a significant portion of the upcoming Super Rugby season. The promising back has recently undergone surgery for an ankle injury that he had been managing throughout the previous season. His recovery is estimated to take three to four months, meaning he may miss the early rounds of the Super Rugby Pacific season, which kicks off in mid-February.
If Love’s rehabilitation progresses well, he could return by round five or six of the 16-round regular season; however, a longer recovery could see him back on the field around rounds eight or nine. Many analysts had anticipated that he would be a strong candidate for the starting first-five position for the Hurricanes, or potentially as a fullback.
Love earned his first test cap with the All Blacks during their end-of-year tour, where he made a brief appearance off the bench against Japan. Additionally, he participated in the All Blacks XV’s victory over Munster in November.
Expressing his determination, Love stated, “I look forward to being back to full fitness next year to represent the people of the Hurricanes region and going to battle with my brothers.”
Despite this injury setback, the outlook remains hopeful for Ruben Love, who is committed to returning stronger and contributing significantly to his team in the future.
This situation underscores the resilience of athletes who often face obstacles but are determined to overcome them. The support from fans and teammates is crucial as Love embarks on his recovery journey.
