World Rugby has announced the initial five host cities and dates for the HSBC SVNS 2025 series. The series will take place in Dubai, Cape Town, Perth, Vancouver, and Hong Kong, with additional locations to be revealed soon.
The opening event is set for the Sevens Stadium in Dubai, scheduled for November 30 to December 1, 2024. Following this, the second round will occur at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town on December 7-8. Perth will welcome the series for the third round from January 24 to 26, 2025, at HBF Park, marking its successful return. Vancouver will host the fourth round at BC Place from February 21 to 23, and the prestigious Hong Kong Sevens is confirmed for March 28-30.
Further information regarding the remaining 2025 events, including the series finale, will be provided in the near future. The HSBC SVNS is committed to promoting gender equality, offering combined men’s and women’s events at all rounds, ensuring equal opportunities for female players to shine on global platforms. Both men’s and women’s teams will receive the same participation fees.
Three new teams will compete in 2025: Kenya and Uruguay in the men’s division and China in the women’s, having gained promotion from the HSBC Sevens Challenger through their success at the 2024 promotion and relegation play-off in Madrid.
The women’s teams include New Zealand, Australia, France, the USA, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Spain, and China. The men’s teams consist of Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, South Africa, Great Britain, the USA, Spain, Uruguay, and Kenya.
