A collision between a container truck and a mini-bus has resulted in eight individuals being hospitalized this afternoon. The incident occurred at Lokuya Hill in Tailevu around noon today.
Both drivers, along with six passengers from the mini-bus, were transported to Korovou Hospital for necessary medical treatment.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, Director of Traffic for the Fiji Police Force, urged all Public Service Vehicle (PSV) drivers to remain vigilant on the roads. He expressed concern that this crash is the second incident this week involving PSVs, leading to innocent passengers becoming unwitting victims on our roads.
This incident highlights the ongoing need for increased safety and awareness among drivers, particularly in public transport. While it is unfortunate that such events occur, it serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to traffic rules and maintaining high vigilance at all times to ensure the safety of all road users.
In reflecting on this situation, there remains hope that continued advocacy for safer driving practices will ultimately lead to fewer accidents and a safer travel experience for everyone.
