The Christmas spirit has arrived early for cancer patients in the Western Division, as the Challenge Group of Companies generously donated a vehicle to the Fiji Cancer Society’s Nadi outlet this week. This vehicle will significantly assist in providing care for patients.
Salesh Kumar, the group’s chief executive officer, emphasized their dedication to community support, making it one of their core commitments. He expressed pride in being part of an organization that prioritizes enhancing community well-being and upliftment for vulnerable populations, particularly those affected by cancer.
“At Challenge Group, our mission extends beyond business; we aim to foster hope, support resilience, and form meaningful partnerships,” stated Mr. Kumar. He applauded the Society’s focus on research, education, and patient care and highlighted the collective effort required in the fight against cancer.
The dedication to supporting communities is a legacy of the company’s founders, including Suresh Patel and the late Vidya Ben Patel, alongside directors Pretisha Patel and Kapil Jekishan.
Mr. Kumar hopes that this vehicle will empower the Society to deliver essential services and enhance care for communities in need. He reiterated their role as both partners and advocates for survivors, families, and healthcare professionals working tirelessly.
Belinda Chan, the Society’s CEO, revealed that they have supported over 332 patients from Sigatoka to Tavua so far. She emphasized the importance of community outreach and cancer awareness, which includes prevention education and screenings for cervical and breast cancer.
“Our team collaborates closely with the Ministry of Health to extend their reach, especially to underserved communities in the Western Division. This vehicle will enable us to serve these communities better, and we are incredibly grateful to the Challenge Group for their support. The impact of this donation will be immense,” Chan expressed.
This generous act not only highlights the importance of community collaboration but also instills hope for continued advancements in cancer care and awareness. Such partnerships are vital in making a tangible difference in the lives of many, reinforcing that together, significant challenges can be met with compassion and resolve.
