Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) has collaborated with the Nasinu Town Council to launch a two-day anti-drug awareness campaign, part of its “HOPE in FIJI” initiative. The events, which took place last week, attracted participation from elementary and university students, youth groups, and local residents aiming to address drug-related issues within the community.
The first day of the campaign featured a community peace walk themed “We Are One,” emphasizing the importance of unity and collective responsibility in promoting peace. On the second day, an interactive booth was set up to introduce peace education and practical measures to cultivate non-violence in everyday life.
Participants included those from Fiji National University and youth group ONOP, and many found the experience meaningful for fostering collaboration among the diverse community members. This effort complements the broader objectives of HWPL, which is preparing to host the 12th Annual Commemoration of the Declaration of World Peace. This global event will occur in 94 locations across 61 countries, with participation anticipated from over 10,000 individuals, including more than 1,600 public figures.
Chairman of HWPL, Lee Man-hee, has previously emphasized the urgent need for grassroots engagement and the importance of teaching peace both at home and in schools. “We must unite under the title of peace and take steps towards creating a better world for future generations,” he stated.
The community engagement in Nasinu, coupled with HWPL’s ongoing efforts, reflects a hopeful narrative. It demonstrates how local initiatives can cultivate positive change, combat substance abuse, and promote a culture of unity and peace. Through these grassroots efforts, there is great potential for fostering a safe and healthy environment for the youth in Fiji.
