Deputy Speaker of Parliament Lenora Qereqeretabua has publicly stated that her son-in-law, Jonathan Hill, deserves the presumption of innocence following a police search at her family residence in Samabula. In her statement, she confirmed that the police conducted the search on Thursday as part of their investigation into Hill.

Qereqeretabua praised the professionalism of the police during the search, which she described as a deeply unsettling experience for her family. She noted that no illegal items were discovered in their home, and that no other members of the household are considered persons of interest in this ongoing investigation.

In light of the situation, she expressed her gratitude towards those who reached out with supportive messages but indicated that her legal counsel advised her not to provide further comments at this time. Hill made an appearance in court recently, where he faces charges related to the confiscation of illegal drugs in Vatia, Tavua, last week.

This situation highlights the importance of due process and the principle that individuals are innocent until proven guilty. As the investigation unfolds, it remains crucial for the legal system to ensure that all parties involved are treated fairly.
