Parents and communities are being encouraged to prioritize children’s holistic development beyond just academic success, aiming to cultivate resilient, responsible, and grounded adults. Sashi Kiran, the Minister for Women, Children, and Social Protection, highlighted the increasing social pressures children face, especially in urban settings, stressing the need for strong emotional, moral, and social foundations.

“The investment in children really should be to make them good human beings with resilience so they can handle pressure whether it’s social media, drugs, or HIV. I plead with parents and communities to invest in your children,” Kiran stated.

She pointed out that children living in towns and cities encounter heightened risks, including drug exposure, unsafe environments, and health threats, making effective parental guidance and supervision more vital than ever. Kiran urges parents to dedicate quality time to their children, guide them toward healthy lifestyle choices, and engage them in activities that foster creativity, critical thinking, and strong community values.

Moreover, Kiran emphasized the importance of establishing robust family and community support systems to ensure children’s safety and emotional well-being, particularly as they navigate transitions into school, adolescence, and new social environments. Investing in children now promises to yield a generation capable of facing future challenges with resilience and strength, paving the way for a healthier and more supportive society.
