Holiday Hiccups: Delay in Review of Key Report

Spread the love

The review of the Tribunal’s report concerning suspended Director of Public Prosecutions Christopher Pryde is currently on hold. This delay is attributed to the holiday season, as mentioned by the Office of the President. Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, the President, is required to carefully examine the report, engage in consultations, and seek necessary advice before making a decision.

Due to several officials being on leave for Christmas and New Year, this process has been postponed. The Office of the President assured that once the officials return, the review will continue, and the report will be made public in accordance with the Constitution. The Tribunal, which is composed of Justice Anare Tuilevuka, Justice Chaitanya Lakshman, and Justice Samuela Qica, completed the report and submitted it to the President.

This situation highlights the importance of thorough reviews in governance, ensuring that decisions are well-considered and informed. Despite the current delays, it’s a reminder of the commitment to transparency and accountability in the public service.

Looking ahead, once the review process resumes, it will provide clarity on the matter and help uphold the rule of law in Fiji, showing a dedication to due process even during busy holiday seasons.
