Preparations are in full swing for the FMF Mirchi FM and Radio Fiji Two Non-Stop Holi Masti celebration, set to take place this Saturday from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Damodar City Center Carpark. This year’s festivities are set to feature a larger stage to accommodate a bigger audience, fostering greater community involvement.
Aziza Nilufa Nisha, Team Leader at Mirchi FM, noted that this year’s celebration will include a variety of competitions, enhancing the traditional festivities. With Holi representing unity and joy, she invites individuals from various ethnic backgrounds to participate, promoting themes of positivity and togetherness. Nisha shared, “There’s going to be colors all around you. There will be live entertainment, music, and everything. We just want you to come in big numbers. Just come with your family, come with your friends, and just enjoy with us.”
The event promises free entry, along with complimentary colored powders and live entertainment, making it accessible for all. This reflects a growing trend of youth engagement in cultural celebrations, highlighting a budding interest in embracing diverse traditions.
Past Holi events in Fiji have underscored the value of unity and cultural inclusivity, with community leaders stressing the importance of togetherness during such occasions. Celebrations like Holi Masti serve not only as a source of entertainment but also as vital platforms to strengthen community bonds and foster a sense of belonging among participants of all backgrounds.
As excitement builds for this vibrant occasion, there is an optimistic outlook that the spirit of Holi will emphasize cooperation and joy, uniting people from across Fiji’s multicultural society. The lively colors of Holi remind everyone of the shared happiness and resilience within the community, encouraging wide participation in this joyful celebration.
