Preparations are underway for the FMF Mirchi FM and Radio Fiji Two Non-Stop Holi Masti celebration, scheduled for this Saturday from 3 PM to 8 PM at the Damodar City Center Carpark. This year’s event promises an even larger stage to accommodate a bigger audience, enhancing participation and engagement among community members.
According to Aziza Nilufa Nisha, Team Leader at Mirchi FM, this year’s celebration will introduce various competitions, marking a departure from previous events. With the vibrant festival of Holi symbolizing unity and joy, Nisha is encouraging individuals from different ethnic backgrounds to join in the festivities, promoting messages of positivity and togetherness. She expressed, “There’s going to be colors all around you. There will be live entertainment, music, and everything. We just want you to come in big numbers. Just come with your family, come with your friends, and just enjoy with us.”
Free entry alongside complimentary colored powders and live entertainment is expected to draw large crowds, making the event accessible to everyone. This aligns with earlier reports indicating a surge in youth participation in such cultural celebrations, signifying a growing interest in embracing diverse traditions.
Previous Holi festivities in Fiji have demonstrated the significance of unity and cultural inclusivity, with various community leaders emphasizing the importance of togetherness during such celebrations. Events like the Holi Masti serve not only as entertainment but also as platforms to strengthen community bonds, fostering a sense of belonging among participants of all backgrounds.
As anticipation builds for this festive occasion, there is hope that the essence of Holi will illuminate the importance of cooperation and joy, bringing together people from across Fiji’s multicultural landscape. The vibrant colors of Holi act as a reminder of the shared happiness and resilience of the community, encouraging everyone to partake in this joyful celebration.
