Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection Sashi Kiran is urging Fijians to unite and extend their support to the most vulnerable as the country observes Holi, all while coping with the aftermath of flooding and the impacts of Tropical Cyclone Urmil.

Kiran emphasizes that Holi symbolizes the renewal of friendships and the strengthening of community bonds, highlighting the importance of peace, love, and compassion during this celebration. However, she recognizes that many families are grappling with hardship, displacement, and uncertainty due to the recent severe weather.

The minister has reported that ministry teams are actively collaborating with the Ministry of Rural and Maritime Development, along with various stakeholders, to provide emergency assistance, protection services, and social welfare support to those affected.

She is appealing to communities to remain vigilant, particularly for the elderly, children, individuals with disabilities, and other at-risk groups during this challenging time. Kiran notes that the true essence of Holi is illuminated through acts of kindness and solidarity, affirming that even after the heaviest downpours, better days are ahead.

She extends her heartfelt wishes to all Fijians for a hopeful, healing, and peaceful Holi, encouraging everyone to embrace the spirit of compassion and community during this festive season.
