Holi, the vibrant festival celebrated by Hindus, embodies the victory of truth over tyranny, according to Professor Biman Prasad, the leader of the National Federation Party. In a recent statement, he emphasized that Holi transcends mere festivities, carrying a profound message about resilience against oppression and the importance of equality and dignity.

As individuals across Fiji join in the colorful celebration, Mr. Prasad expressed that Holi serves as a reminder of the enduring battle against evil and injustice. “Holi teaches us the all-important message of the triumph of good over evil, and the victory of truth and righteousness,” he stated, highlighting the significance of social justice and equality for all communities.

Mr. Prasad pointed out that Fiji has been celebrating Holi for over 145 years, tracing back to the arrival of indentured laborers in 1879. This long-standing tradition is deeply woven into the fabric of the nation’s history and reflects the multicultural identity of Fiji, showcasing the harmonious coexistence of different cultures.

As families and friends come together to celebrate, Holi not only marks a time of joy and unity but also reinforces the values of compassion and resilience in the face of challenges.
