“History-Making Fijian Teen Shines Despite Olympic Defeat”

Team Fiji’s Vicky Wu faced a challenging match at the 2024 Paris Olympics, losing in 4 sets to Great Britain’s Liam Pitchford in table tennis.

Despite the loss, the 19-year-old made history as the first Fijian to qualify for the Olympics in this sport.

The former Yat Sen Secondary School student is no stranger to international competitions, having been the youngest Fijian athlete at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

He also secured bronze medals at the 2017 Pacific Mini Games and the 2019 Pacific Games.
