Seven schools within the Maritime zone recently received a substantial gift of sporting equipment valued at $2,500 each, totaling $17,500, during an event held at the SportsWorld branch in Suva. This donation came in the wake of the Fiji Finals competition and was made possible through a partnership between Coca Cola and SportsWorld, aiming to support the athletic development of schools in the maritime region.

Biu Colati, secretary of the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association, called the donation a historic moment for these schools and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the sponsors for their commitment to enhancing student-athletes’ experiences. “This partnership is crucial for these schools as they receive the support needed to compete effectively,” Colati stated.

Vinod Kumar, General Manager of SportsWorld, echoed Colati’s sentiments, emphasizing the significance of equipping schools with the necessary tools for training and competition. The comprehensive donation is expected to positively impact the training and performance of student-athletes engaged in various athletic disciplines within the region.

Past initiatives have similarly demonstrated the collective investment in athletics in Fiji, including a previous sponsorship of $15,000 worth of equipment for maritime schools coordinated by Coca-Cola, highlighting an ongoing commitment to nurturing the sporting talent of youth across the nation. This proactive approach indicates a burgeoning future for athletics in Fiji, offering hope for a more vibrant athletic culture.

Overall, initiatives like this one signify a bright future for sports in Fiji, fostering community spirit and encouraging the next generation of athletes to thrive in both athletic and academic pursuits.
