The Asco Foundation has made a significant contribution to Diabetes Fiji by donating a 4×4 Hilux vehicle, reinforcing its commitment to combating diabetes, which is increasingly becoming a concern in local communities.

At the handover event last week, Ronald Kumar, the chief executive officer of Asco Motors and a trustee of the Asco Foundation, emphasized the importance of the donation, stating, “Today, we celebrate not just the donation of a vehicle, but the strengthening of our commitment to the health and well-being of our community.”

Kumar praised the vital work undertaken by Diabetes Fiji, expressing honor in supporting their mission. He noted that the vehicle would help them enhance their outreach efforts, conduct health screenings, and provide essential education on managing diabetes.

The 4×4 Hilux is designed to perform reliably across various terrains, enabling Diabetes Fiji to serve both rural and urban populations effectively. This capability is crucial for reaching underserved communities that may face challenges in accessing healthcare services.

Taarvish Akbhar, the board chair of Diabetes Fiji, expressed appreciation for the support from the Asco Foundation, stating that the vehicle will play a key role in advancing their mission to educate and assist individuals affected by diabetes. “It will allow us to extend our reach and provide much-needed services to our communities, ultimately improving the quality of life for many individuals,” he remarked.

The donation aligns with Asco Foundation’s ongoing tradition of community support and forms part of a wider initiative to promote health and wellness. Kumar articulated the foundation’s belief in corporate responsibility, stating, “It encompasses a commitment to fostering healthier communities.” By collaborating with organizations like Diabetes Fiji, Asco aims to create a positive impact on the lives of those they serve.
