A new investment of $75 million is set to enhance the construction of the Hilton Garden Inn in Suva, which will provide much-needed accommodation in the capital. The hotel is expected to open in August 2025 and will feature 179 guest rooms, a restaurant and bar, a gym, and a pool located along the Suva foreshore.
This development is part of Carpenters Properties Limited’s investment portfolio, which includes two hotels and an apartment building at the same site, launched in 2018. During the ‘Topping Off’ ceremony for the hotel, Hilton area vice president Paul Hutton emphasized that the property would draw more conferences to Suva, catering to the demand for quality hotel spaces.
The hotel is designed as a six-story building, with 59 rooms having been constructed prior to the COVID-19 pandemic. Minister for Finance Biman Prasad, who attended the ceremony, praised the hotel’s strategic location, noting its potential to enhance Suva’s appeal as a vibrant center.
Prasad highlighted that the new hotel would not only serve international tourists but would also support the growing business travel, NGOs, and diplomatic activities in Fiji. He stated, “This new hotel will undoubtedly attract more visitors to Suva, create new jobs, and stimulate surrounding businesses, contributing to a ripple effect that will benefit the wider community.”
Kunaseelan Sabaratnam, the retail and marketing director of Carpenters Fiji Limited, mentioned that the Hilton Garden Inn would establish Suva as a diplomatic hub within the Pacific region. He noted that new hotels like this creation would generate numerous jobs, from construction to hospitality roles, thereby boosting local employment opportunities. Sabaratnam expressed gratitude to the Hilton Inn board of directors for investing in Fiji, particularly in the Suva area.
