Hilton Garden Inn Marks $75M Investment Milestone in Fiji

The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel project by Carpenters Group Fiji officially commenced its first phase yesterday, marking a significant investment of $75 million. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, highlighted the importance of the private sector in fostering economic growth and development in Fiji.

Situated on the Suva Foreshore, this initial phase is slated for completion in August 2025. Steven Tucker, director of Sinclair Brook, the construction management firm, detailed that the project will unfold in three phases over approximately five years. He noted that the next phase, focusing on retail development, is projected to cost around $80 million, while the second hotel phase is estimated at $120 million, subject to change.

Prasad emphasized that the project is entirely privately funded without any donor contributions. He noted the hotel will feature 178 rooms along with facilities such as a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, car park, as well as backup power and water supply. The second phase will aim to add a waterfront retail space that will cater to both local and international retailers.

Prasad remarked that Fiji’s capability to attract major investments like the Hilton Garden Inn shows the confidence investors have in the nation and its economy. He credited the government’s dedication to sound fiscal policies, economic reforms, and macroeconomic stability for maintaining Fiji’s competitiveness as an appealing investment location.

He also mentioned the government’s efforts to foster a supportive environment for domestic and international private sector investment. By incorporating private sector representatives into task force committees, the government values their insight to enhance decision-making in governance.
