Hilton Garden Inn Hotel: A $75 Million Investment Begins in Fiji!

The Hilton Garden Inn Hotel project by Carpenters Group Fiji officially launched its first phase yesterday. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Professor Biman Prasad, highlighted the $75 million investment as evidence of the private sector’s significant contribution to Fiji’s economic growth and development.

Situated at the Suva Foreshore, this initial phase is set for completion in August 2025. Steven Tucker, the director of Sinclair Brook, the company managing construction, explained that the endeavor is divided into three phases, with an overall completion projected within five years.

Tucker noted that the next retail stage is estimated to require around $80 million, and a subsequent hotel, in its current form, is projected to cost roughly $120 million, although these figures may change. He emphasized that the project is entirely privately funded without contributions from donors.

Professor Prasad announced that the hotel will feature 178 rooms along with amenities such as a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, and parking facilities, supplemented by backup power and water supplies. The second phase will include waterfront retail development aimed at attracting both local and international retailers.

Prasad remarked that Fiji’s capacity to draw significant investments like the Hilton Garden Inn demonstrates investors’ confidence in the country’s economy. He emphasized that the government’s focus on sound fiscal policies, economic reforms, and macroeconomic stability has reinforced Fiji’s appeal as an investment destination.

He also noted the government’s strides in creating a favorable environment for both domestic and international private sector investments, underscoring the importance of private sector input in their task force committees.
