Hilton Fiji Raises FJ$14,331 for Fiji Cancer Society During Pinktober

Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa has once again demonstrated its dedication to community health by raising an impressive FJ$14,331 during its month-long Pinktober initiative, aimed at supporting the Fiji Cancer Society. This fundraising effort took place throughout October, bringing together both resort staff and guests for a series of engaging events focused on wellness, creativity, and community spirit.

Carey Osborne, the Cluster General Manager for Hilton Fiji, highlighted how the enthusiasm and generosity evident during Pinktober underscored Hilton’s commitment to making a difference beyond the realm of hospitality. He stated, “These initiatives truly reflect the heart of our Hilton culture; where hospitality extends beyond our guests to the wider community. We are incredibly proud of our team’s passion and our guests’ generosity in supporting this meaningful cause.”

Among the various fundraising activities held throughout the month were team member bake sales, a vibrant Pink Sunset Event, and a lively walk-a-thon. Notably, the Pink Sunset Event attracted 56 attendees, generating funds through entry fees and auctions, while team members also showed their culinary talents at a morning tea, contributing significantly to the overall fundraising efforts. Additionally, custom Pinktober t-shirts were sold, further promoting the cause.

This fundraising initiative aligns with Hilton’s global “Travel with Purpose” strategy, which seeks to promote responsible tourism and support positive social and environmental change. The Hilton Fiji Beach Resort & Spa has pledged to continue supporting health and wellness causes, aspiring to be an “Iconic Host” by not only providing world-class guest experiences but also uplifting the communities around it.

Reflecting on the impact of such initiatives, it’s heartening to see the hospitality industry’s involvement in community welfare, as demonstrated by Hilton and other hotels in Fiji. Similar efforts were noted during the recent Pinktober campaign by hotels like the Intercontinental Fiji Golf Resort and Spa, which collectively raised around $10,000 to aid cancer awareness and care in Fiji. These actions reflect a growing trend within the hospitality sector to engage in philanthropy, showcasing how unified efforts can create meaningful change and foster a sense of community resilience against health challenges like cancer.
