A 26-year-old tertiary student had to be rescued over the weekend after suffering a fall during a hiking trip on Mount Korobaba. According to police reports, the woman injured her thigh while hiking along the muddy trails with three colleagues.
The rescue operation commenced after a distress call was placed to the Police Command and Coordination Center (PCCC) by one of her hiking companions. A quick response team from the Lami Police Station, in collaboration with the National Fire Authority (NFA), located the injured student at the middle section of the hiking track.
Following her rescue, she was transported to the Lami Health Center for medical treatment and was later discharged to recover at home.
The prompt action from the police and the NFA highlights the importance of safety measures during outdoor activities. As authorities continue to respond efficiently to such incidents, it’s a reassuring reminder of the community’s support system for students and adventurers alike.
Overall, incidents like this call attention to the necessity of being cautious while hiking, especially in rugged terrain, and the readiness of first responders to assist those in need in remote areas.
