A 26-year-old tertiary student was rescued on Saturday after suffering a thigh injury during a hike on Mount Korobaba with three companions. The incident occurred when the student slipped, making it impossible for her to continue the hike. One of her friends contacted the Police Command and Coordination Center (PCCC) for help.

In response, a collaborative team from the Lami Police Station and the National Fire Authority (NFA) quickly arrived at the scene. They found the group midway along the hiking path and successfully assisted the injured student back down the trail. She was subsequently taken to the Lami Health Center for treatment and was later discharged.

This incident serves as a reminder of the critical importance of safety precautions while hiking, especially in potentially hazardous environments. Authorities urge hikers to be well-prepared for emergencies and to exercise caution on rugged terrains, highlighting that quick emergency response can make a considerable difference in ensuring safety.

The community’s effective response and support reflect a strong safety network for individuals engaging in outdoor activities, underscoring the collective commitment to responsible exploration of nature.
