Two drivers have been hospitalized following a head-on crash on Edinburgh Drive in Suva yesterday, which resulted in one vehicle plummeting off the road and down a cliff.
Senior Superintendent of Police Mitieli Divuana, the police director of traffic, reported that one of the drivers was en route to Suva when he changed lanes, colliding with an oncoming vehicle. The occupants of both vehicles were also taken to the hospital.
“The driver involved in the incident was headed towards Suva when his vehicle drifted into the opposite lane, causing the head-on collision,” SSP Divuana stated. “The vehicle then veered off the road and fell down the cliff.”
Both drivers and their passengers were transported to the hospital, and their conditions will be updated as health officials provide information.
A reporter from The Fiji Times arrived at the scene around 6:15 am, where bystanders were observed looking down the cliff at the location where the vehicle had landed. Officers were actively working to rescue the passengers trapped in the vehicle.
