High-Stakes Vetting: Fiji’s Prosecution Prepares Major Reports

Nancy Tikoisuva, the Acting Director of Public Prosecutions, announced that they are nearing the conclusion of the vetting process for two significant cases.

The first case involves the alleged theft of $450,000 from the Police Credit Union, along with accusations of abuse of office against several senior officials within the Fiji Police Force. These claims were initially brought to light by Assistant Police Commissioner for Crime, Mesake Waqa, during a special general meeting of the Fiji Police Credit Union earlier this year. Additionally, Ms. Tikoisuva mentioned that a report regarding a tragedy at a Ferris wheel, where a 21-year-old woman lost her life after falling during the 2023 Fiji Showcase at the Vodafone Arena carpark in Suva, is also expected to be released before the same deadline. She acknowledged the gravity of these cases, asserting the necessity of meticulous investigation prior to any decisions.
