The Lautoka High Court is set to announce its decision tomorrow regarding the state’s request for the disposal of 4.1 tonnes of methamphetamine that was confiscated in Nadi last December. On the previous day, several individuals, including Justin Ho, David Heritage, Louie Logaivau, Jale Aukerea, Sakiusa Tuva, Keanie Mcpherson, Ratu Aporosa Davelevu, Ratu Osea Levula, Cathy Tuirabe, and Viliame Colawaliku, appeared before Justice Aruna Aluthge.

The court is currently awaiting a destruction plan from the State before it can make its ruling. Additionally, the court has instructed both parties to resolve pre-trial matters by January 31, 2025. Key dates have been established for the Voir dire hearing and the trial, which are scheduled between April 21 and May 23, 2025.

Bail has been extended for all defendants, with the exception of Cathy Tuirabe and Viliame Colawaliku, who are subject to bench warrants after failing to appear in court. The police are actively seeking these two individuals. Meanwhile, additional bail conditions for Justin Ho, Louie Logaivau, and Jale Aukerea include a curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM.

The accused face multiple charges, including unlawful importation and possession of illicit drugs, as well as possession of assets believed to be proceeds from criminal activities. The court will reconvene tomorrow for its ruling.

This situation highlights the ongoing efforts of law enforcement in combating drug-related crimes and the judicial system’s commitment to addressing these serious allegations. The judicial proceedings reflect a thorough legal process aimed at ensuring justice while maintaining public safety.
