Pita Wise has resigned from his position as permanent secretary in the Prime Minister’s office, with Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka indicating that the resignation is related to a complaint.

Initially, Wise cited personal reasons for his departure, as mentioned in a statement from Public Service Commission chair Luke Rokovada. However, when asked by the media, Rabuka confirmed he had received a complaint, which he passed on to the Public Service Commission.

Rokovada confirmed that the commission met on Wednesday to address the complaint, and Wise subsequently offered to resign. He informed Rabuka via email about the outcome of their discussions and later provided a hard copy of the resignation letter along with a corresponding press release.

Pita Wise had been serving as permanent secretary since January 2023 and has over 30 years of experience in the civil service, including previous roles in other administrations.
