The High Court in Suva has denied bail to Apisai Madigibuli, who faces a murder charge. The 27-year-old appeared before Justice Dane Tuiqereqere, who expressed concern for Madigibuli’s safety should he be released back into society. The defendant is accused of fatally stabbing his pregnant wife multiple times with a kitchen knife at an apartment complex in Suva on July 28.

During the proceedings, Justice Tuiqereqere highlighted the severity of the charges against Madigibuli. He noted that the State presented evidence, including CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts, regarding Madigibuli’s involvement in the crime. With the trial scheduled to begin in just two months, the judge emphasized the urgency of the case.

The case will be mentioned again on December 3.

This development underscores the gravity of the situation and the judicial system’s commitment to ensuring safety and justice. As the trial date approaches, it remains critical to address the issues surrounding domestic violence and to provide support for those affected.
