The High Court in Suva has rescheduled the sentencing of three former police officers facing manslaughter charges to October 17, due to a lack of preparedness. The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, expecting a ruling. The charges relate to the suspected assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022 after he was taken to the Samabula Police Station for allegedly assaulting a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence of alcohol. The injuries he sustained resulted in his death. The three officers are currently out on bail.
