The High Court in Suva has rescheduled the sentencing of three former police officers charged with manslaughter to October 17, due to a lack of preparedness. The officers, Maciu Vakatuturaga, Joshua Bull, and Isireli Raseisei, appeared before Justice Thushara Rajasinghe last Friday, anticipating a verdict. The charges arise from the alleged assault of Tikoivalenibula in February 2022, who was taken to the Samabula Police Station for reportedly attacking a 27-year-old mechanic while under the influence of alcohol. The injuries sustained resulted in Tikoivalenibula’s death. The three officers are currently out on bail.
