Hibiscus Festival Ride Malfunction Sparks Investigation

The National Occupational Health and Safety Service from the Employment Ministry is starting a preliminary investigation into an incident involving an amusement ride during the 2024 Hibiscus Festival.

On Sunday, September 1, the MG Rocket Ride encountered a malfunction when the turnbuckle on cart No. 3 broke, causing the cart to tilt.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, as the seat belts and the ride’s structure remained intact and secure.

The ride has been closed while further investigations take place.

Before the festival commenced, the National Occupational Health and Safety Service had inspected and certified all rides, and they have been overseeing operations since the festival started.
