Hibiscus Festival Ride Incident Sparks Safety Investigation

The National Occupational Health and Safety Service within the Employment Ministry is currently conducting a preliminary investigation into a malfunction involving an amusement ride at the 2024 Hibiscus Festival.

On Sunday, September 1, the MG Rocket Ride encountered an issue when the turnbuckle of cart No. 3 broke, leading to the cart tilting. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, as the seat belts and the overall structure of the ride remained intact.

The ride has been temporarily shut down while further investigations take place. Prior to the festival’s start, all rides were inspected and certified by the National Occupational Health and Safety Service, which has been overseeing operations since the festival commenced.
