A routine Thursday evening turned into a heroic scene in Suva, where a taxi driver became an unlikely hero by helping to rescue two frightened children during a high-speed chase. The dramatic events unfolded around 8 pm along Victoria Parade, right outside ANZ Bank, while police were on patrol.

The anonymous taxi driver witnessed a shocking incident when three men jumped into a woman’s car with her two young children still in the back seat. Alarmed by the situation, he immediately pursued the vehicle, prompting a police officer to jump into his moving taxi to assist in the chase.

Despite having two passengers already in his taxi, the driver managed to follow the stolen vehicle through various streets, including Victoria Parade, Toorak, and Milverton Road. In a tense moment, he recalled needing to collide with the car to force it to stop as the carjacker continued to evade capture.

Eventually, the car became stuck in a dead-end street, but the suspects remained undeterred and attempted to escape by ramming the taxi. However, the driver effectively blocked their exit, allowing the police officer to give chase on foot once the vehicle was immobilized. Inside the car, the driver found two terrified girls who were shaken and crying. He comforted them, expressing his sadness for their distress.
