A man in his 40s has lost his life while attempting to assist a homeowner whose residence was engulfed in flames in Nadroumai Village, Nadroga, yesterday afternoon. The victim reportedly collapsed while trying to remove belongings from one of the rooms. He was immediately taken to Sigatoka Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Authorities are continuing their investigations, and a post-mortem examination will be conducted to determine the cause of his death. The Fiji Police Force has noted an uptick in fire incidents recently and is advising homeowners and property owners to consistently check for fire hazards around their properties as a precautionary measure.
