The Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalusima, has expressed gratitude towards the National Fire Authority (NFA) for their support in the aftermath of flooding that affected the towns of Ba, Nadi, and Rakiraki on Boxing Day.
Mr. Nalusima acknowledged the dedication of NFA firefighters who assisted local councils in the cleanup efforts, highlighting the remarkable commitment shown by 14 firefighters in Ba. Notably, two of these firefighters chose to forgo family time to contribute to the cleanup alongside 23 council workers and 4 police officers during the Minister’s visit.
In addition, firefighters from Nadi traveled to Rakiraki and Tavua to provide further assistance in the recovery process.
This commendation reflects not only the spirit of community service and teamwork, but it also underscores the importance of collaboration during emergencies.
