The Minister for Local Government, Maciu Nalusima, has expressed his gratitude to the National Fire Authority (NFA) for their significant efforts in the post-flood cleanup of several towns affected by recent flooding. Ba, Nadi, and Rakiraki towns faced substantial flooding on Boxing Day, prompting a coordinated response.

Minister Nalusima acknowledged the dedication of the NFA firefighters, highlighting that in Ba alone, 14 firefighters were on duty, including two who volunteered their time off from their families to assist in the cleanup efforts. Alongside them were 23 town council workers and police officers working collectively to restore the town’s condition.

The commitment of the NFA extended to other areas as well, with personnel from Nadi traveling to Rakiraki and Tavua to aid in their recovery processes.

This situation underlines the remarkable spirit of community and cooperation in the face of adversity. The collaborative efforts of various agencies, including firefighters, local councils, and law enforcement, showcase a strong commitment to supporting affected communities during tough times. It serves as a reminder of the essential role emergency services play not only in firefighting but also in community resilience and recovery.

By reinforcing teamwork and compassion in these moments, we can look forward to rebuilding and restoring affected areas, ensuring that communities emerge stronger and more united.
