A man in his 40s lost his life while attempting to assist a homeowner whose house was on fire in Nadroumai Village, Nadroga, yesterday afternoon.

The victim was reportedly trying to remove items from one of the rooms when he suddenly collapsed.

He was quickly taken to Sigatoka Hospital where he was declared dead upon arrival.

Authorities are conducting further investigations, and a post-mortem examination will be carried out to determine the cause of death.

In recent days, there have been multiple reports of fire incidents, prompting the Fiji Police Force to advise homeowners and property owners to take essential safety precautions by evaluating fire risks in and around their properties.
