Weather Alert: Moisture Overload Edition

Issued by the National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi at 5:30 am on March 4, 2026 – much to the delight of your umbrellas.

The heavy rain warning for the glamorous western half of Viti Levu, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Cadavu, and their smaller island buddies has called it quits! They’ve decided to take a holiday instead of showering us in downpours. But don’t hang up those raincoats just yet! A flood alert still looms over low-lying areas near the Nakauvadra River and several others.

And just to keep things exciting, a flash flood warning is still very much alive for the entire Viti Levu – so watch your step!

Today’s forecast: Expect cloudy periods mixed with a few showers over the western part of Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, and some islands nearby, plus the Southern Lau group. The rest of us? Well, just a sprinkle here and there with some fashionable clouds hanging around. The winds? Moderate and southeastern – they’re dressing up nice and breezy today.

Looking ahead to Thursday: The forecast shows a trend of clouds taking over across many regions, with showers popping up like surprise guests at a dinner party—especially over Navua, Suva, and pretty much anywhere your rain dance takes you. Isolated thunderstorms may crash the afternoon, showcasing an impressive light show, possibly with heavy rainfall—because who doesn’t love an encore?

Now for the North and other corners of paradise:
– Labasa and Savusavu: Both places will see cloudy skies and expect afternoon guests in the form of showers. Min: 25, Max: 30.
– Nabouwalu, Taveuni, and the numerous islands in Lau and Lomaiviti cannot escape the show either, with similar forecasts echoing back to you.

And if you happen to be on Rotuma, get ready for mild clouds and brief showers—perfect atmosphere for contemplating your next meal. Min: 24, Max: 31.

So there you have it! Your weather forecast may be cloudy and damp, but don’t let the rain get you down. Embrace the wet and wonderful, and don’t forget your umbrella—it’s going to be a splashy kind of day!
