Heavy Rain Sparks Potential Water Disruptions in Fiji

The Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) is warning residents in certain areas about potential water supply disruptions due to heavy rainfall impacting water quality at the Tamavua Water Treatment Plant. This heavy rain is expected to cause high turbidity in the source streams, complicating the treatment process and likely leading to a decrease in water production at the facility.

Affected areas include Mika Drue Place, Pathik Crescent, Mead Road (with specific mentions of Volavola Road, Evetts Place, and Top Shop Road), and certain elevated locations along Lakha Singh Road and Tacirua Road. Other regions, such as MH Superfresh, Upper Mead Road, and several parts of Lami Village and Muaivuso Village, are also on the list.

WAF is proactively monitoring the situation and is committed to managing production levels diligently to mitigate any negative impacts on local residents’ water supply.

Despite the challenges posed by weather conditions, the swift action by WAF highlights a strong commitment to maintaining service for the community. Residents are encouraged to prepare for any contingencies as the situation unfolds.

In summary, while heavy rainfall may disrupt water services in several areas, the proactive efforts by WAF provide reassurance that steps are being taken to minimize the impact on customers. This situation serves as a reminder of the importance of preparedness in the face of environmental challenges.
