Heavy Rain and Thunderstorms Expected Across Eastern and Northern Viti Levu – Weather Alert April 2025

Weather Update

Greetings, weather enthusiasts! We have a hefty downpour on our agenda today, issued from the esteemed National Weather Forecasting Centre in Nadi—yes, that means don’t leave home without your umbrella unless you want to become an unintentional swimmer!

The heavy rain alert is officially staying put for the eastern half of Viti Levu, which includes the charming regions from Serua and Namosi, through Navua to Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and all the way to Ra! So, if you’re in these areas, prepare for a splashy day, because Mother Nature is pretty determined to water the plants, whether they asked for it or not.

What can you expect before the clock strikes midnight? Brace yourselves for frequent rain, heavy enough to make your closest friends ask if you’re kayaking instead of commuting. The northern division, along with the Central and Northern Lau areas including the Lomaiviti group, can also expect a few crackling thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the western parts of Viti Levu will enjoy some cloudy periods, peppered with a light drizzle and generous evening showers—because why not?

And just as a friendly reminder: localized heavy rain could turn your ideal picnic spot into a mini water park, so stay away from those flood-prone zones if you enjoy your dry socks!

Moderate to fresh easterly winds will be joining the party, causing a bit of a ruckus on the seas as well—so think of it like a rollercoaster but for the ocean.

Looking ahead to Saturday, it seems like the clouds are still lingering over Serua-Namosi, Navua, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, Ra, and their nearby islands, with some showers expected. Good news for everyone else: it might be fine, apart from occasional rain flings in the afternoon or evening.

Now, onto some specific town updates:

For Navua/Suva/Nausori: Get ready for occasional rain and a bit of thunder—sounds like a perfect excuse to cozy up at home!

For Nadi/Lautoka/Ba: Clouds will visit and drop some showers, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms—just enough to keep your spirits high!

In Sigatoka/Coral Coast: You’ll have cloudy periods and occasional rain, but fear not—fine weather will return, albeit with some “surprise” showers.

In Tavua/Rakiraki: Wet, wild, and a little thundery—pack your best raincoat!

For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: Your weekend looks a bit drizzly too, with a thunderous finale expected in the afternoon!

Labasa and Savusavu: Guess what? More of the same rainy excitement is in store for you!

For Lau/Lomaiviti: Expect occasional rain, heavy showers and an auto-reply from your weather app saying, “Take cover!”

Last but not least, in Kadavu: It’s a mixed bag! Partly cloudy with some showers, and a thunderstorm may try to crash your afternoon plans.

And to our friends on Rotuma: The sky will be cloudy with some light shower activity, so bring your umbrella if you plan on strolling around!

Stay dry and cheerful out there, folks!
