Hold onto your umbrellas, folks! A HEAVY RAIN ALERT is still waving its flag for the eastern half of Viti Levu (from the picturesque Serua/Namosi to the bustling Navua, on through to Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra), the Northern Division, and our friends in Central and Northern Lau, including the beautiful Lomaiviti Group.
So, what’s brewing in the skies? A low-pressure trough is lazily hanging over Fiji like a cat on a sunny windowsill, bringing along clouds and rain. Fear not, it’ll be making a slow getaway northward later today, but it might stick around long enough to spoil your picnic plans until tomorrow.
Tonight’s forecast for the Fiji group? Expect occasional rain—heavy enough to potentially wash away a small island—along with a few thrilling thunderstorms for the Eastern side of Viti Levu (yes, we’re looking at you, Serua-Namosi through to Suva and Tailevu north, along with interior Tailevu, Naitasiri, and Ra). The Northern Division, as well as Central and Northern Lau, are also in for a soaking.
Over in the West, it’ll be cloudy with brief showers, mostly saving the grand show for the afternoon and evening thunderstorms, because why not bring the drama?
Beware of heavy falls that might lead to flash flooding, especially in those oh-so-lucky low-lying areas. Winds will be moderate to fresh, blowing from the northeast to southeast, making it a bit breezy at sea—so those gonna-sea-seekers should steer clear!
Looking into Friday’s weather crystal ball: More occasional rain, heavy at times (who saw that coming)?
For Navua / Suva / Nausori: The rain has RSVP’d again—expect occasional heavy downpours and some thunderous applause!
For Nadi / Lautoka / Ba: Partly cloudy with a sprinkle of brief showers and wild afternoon or evening thunderstorms that might throw some hefty raindrops.
For Sigatoka/Coral Coast: Partly cloudy with a few brief showers, and yes, thunderstorms making their grand entrance for the evening.
For Tavua/Rakiraki: Expect similar weather—partly cloudy with brief showers, and yes, those thunderstorms are scaling up in the afternoon.
For Yasawa/Mamanuca group: You guessed it, partly cloudy with showers and a bit of thunder thrown into the mix—just enough to keep your plans interesting.
For Labasa and Savusavu: You’ll both continue to experience occasional rain, heavy at times, with a touch of thunder to keep things lively.
For Lau/Lomaiviti: Some heavy rain is expected, but don’t worry—southern parts of Lau might just throw in the Royal Treatment of fine weather.
For Kadavu: It’ll be the model of tranquility with cloudy periods and brief showers, the perfect backdrop for a good book.
For Rotuma: An easterly wind flow prevails bringing cloudy periods with showers and a few isolated thunderstorms—just enough to spice things up!
So, keep your raincoats and galoshes handy—the weather’s got a little mischief planned for the next couple of days!
